Warner Bros. Pictures had already begun the process of starting development of movies with budgets of around $100 million. The intellectual property for these films was meant to be supplied by Warner Animation Group, among others and included the Lego Movie films, Storks and Smallfoot. Warner Bros. had been approaching the original crew from the television series to make a live-action/computer-animated theatrical feature-length comedy film adaptation and had long wanted to partner with Warner Bros. to release a JH Movie Collection film given the network's extraordinary legacy in the world of animation, including some of the most enduring characters on cable television history.
Director Gary Ross agreed to make a feature film version of the show with the promise it would be the first of a planned trilogy. During development stages of the film, he and his co-director and co-writer Phil Lord intended to revisit some of the greatest films of the time, with Ocean's 8 having the core inspirations for the film.
On January 22, 2019, it was confirmed that production on the film had officially begun. Like its predecessors, the film will include live-action sequences, with Phil Méheux as the film's cinematographer. Unlike the previous films, the animated sequences of the film will be entirely computer-animated.
Most of the sound effects are used for sequences with a few sounds created at Warner Bros. and/or VFX while only a few of them are used for live-action sequences. The CGI animation for the film was combined with computer-generated imagery, hair simulations, live-action animation and all sorts of comic book techniques.
The soundtrack will be released on May 25, 2021 on digital and CD by Mad Decent and WaterTower Music. The film score will be released on June 1, 2021 on digital and CD by WaterTower Music.
The JH Movie Collection Movie 4: Lost in Florida will be released on May 28, 2021 in the United States, in 2D, 3D, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, IMAX, and IMAX 3D formats, while the UK version will be released on June 2, 2021 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
On April 1, 2020, MLAS and Warner Bros. released the teaser poster for the film.
Future[]
With Sony Pictures Animation acquiring the film rights to The JH Movie Collection Movie franchise in 2019, the future of the sequel is currently uncertain, although some may know that it will be released on Disney+.
