The Animals Movie is an 2005 American live-action/CGI generation animated adventure comedy film directed by Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg. The film was produced by Ted V. Miller, Michael LaPai, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Robert Zemeckis, Mireille Soria and Colin Wilson. The film stars the voice talents of Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, John Goodman, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Ben Stiller, Jaden Pinkett Smith, Claire Danes, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz.
The Animals Movie received eight Oscar nominations: Best Animated Feature, Best Visual Effects, Best Picture, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Score.
It received mixed reviews from critics, but was a success at the box office, and was one of the biggest-selling films of 2005. The film title will be released on December 30, 2005 in the United States by Universal Pictures.

The CGI environment, CGI animation, performance capture and visual effects were provided by Stick-creative Studios, Industrial Light & Magic, Pacific Data Images/DreamWorks Animation and Rhythm and Hues Studios, who is animated using Pixar RenderMan and Autodesk Maya. The film was also animated using live-action motion capture animation.

The music was composed by Hans Zimmer, who is collaborated with DreamWorks Animation on Shark Tale and Madagascar.
Release[]
The Animals Movie was released in both conventional and IMAX 3D theaters on December 30, 2005. The 2018 reissued version of the film was released on December 14, 2018.
IMAX 3D version[]
In addition to standard theatrical 35mm format, a 3D version for IMAX was also released, generated from the same 3D digital models used for the standard version.
Marketing[]
The official trailer was released on May 24, 2005 before Madagascar in theaters. The final trailer was released on October 3, 2005 before Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit in theaters.
Home media[]
The film was released on DVD as separated widescreen and full-screen versions in single and two-disc special editions (with bonus features) and on VHS on April 25, 2006, several months after the film came out. It was released on HD-DVD with bonus features in October 31, 2006 and on Blu-ray with bonus features on November 4, 2008, both presented in the original widescreen aspect ratio. The 2018 reissued version of the film was released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on February 5, 2019 by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment as a Walmart exclusive & Target exclusive steelbook,[1] and was subsequently given a wider release on June 4.[2]
