Panko the Dragon is an 2021 American-Chinese computer-animated fantasy science fiction action adventure comedy film directed by William Renschen and Tenzing Norgay Trainor. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Movie Land Animation Studios and Panko and Panda Studios, the film will star Jackie Chan (who is also producing the film), Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Gal Gadot, Jon Lee, Ciara Janson, Antony Del Rio, Justin Long, Michelle Wong, Eddie Izzard, Ricky Gervais and Martin Short. The characters will be voiced in both the Chinese and English releases of the film.

Panko the Dragon will be available to release on May 7, 2021 in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing under the Columbia Pictures label and on May 14, 2021.

Production

Development

Production of the Untitled Tenzing Norgay Trainor film was announced on November 17, 2019 by Movie Land Animation Studios and Panko and Panda Studios. On January 24, 2020, Sony Pictures Animation will require rights to produce the film. On May 29, 2020, it was announced that it would be entitled Panko the Dragon, with Jackie Chan will be played as Panko.

Animation

After Twister, the animation for the film was fully finished by Movie Land Digital Production Services, combination with Panko and Panda Studios. It would be similar to Famous 5: On the Case, Smurfs: The Lost Village, Next Gen, Connected and Wish Dragon.

Music

The music for the film is composed by Henry Jackman.

Release

Panko the Dragon will be released on May 7, 2021 in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing under the Columbia Pictures label in RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema and 2D theaters and May 14, 2021 in China by Gravity Pictures
